Hallelujah Chamber Orchestra

Hallelujah Chamber Orchestra

The Hallelujah Chamber Orchestra (HCO) was formed in January 2019 under the auspices of Hallelujah Oratorio Society (HOS). Being a part of HOS, HCO aligns with the mission of “Promoting Church Music to Glorify God and Edify Man” and aims to hone musicians in the aspects of musical excellence and spiritual growth. HCO began with a dozen string musicians, led by founding director Mr. Peter Yan, playing under the baton of music director Zhang Tong, John. The young team has performed in several casual settings and a worship service, having also recently taken part in a masterclass with Wu Man Yun, from the SSO violin section.

HCO held its first concert at the Esplanade Recital Studio in Dec 2019, performing Mendelssohn’s String Symphony no. 10, Mozart’s Divertimento in D major K136, orchestra arrangements to Christian songs and the Christmas Canticles, a choral suite composed by Benjamin Harlan.

The group aims to develop into a full orchestra that can play an active role in HOS performances and ministry programs. HCO is actively recruiting new members and is privileged to have Ms Kimberlyn Wu to assist as the violin instructor.
